Students in Cardiff have the opportunity to win up to £2,500 by creating a short video or writing an essay on their experience of life at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
UCAS Conservatoires’ Take the Spotlight competition is open to anyone currently studying at one of eight specialist music colleges across the UK.
The next generation of talented musicians and performers will be applying for courses through UCAS Conservatoires. Current students’ work, performances and stories will serve as inspiration to others, showing them what’s possible when committing to several years of intense study.
Entries will be marked on their originality and insight in to the conservatoire experience, as well as powerful expression and advocacy for studying at this high level.
Louise Evans, Head of Adviser Experience at UCAS said: “We want to see your passion for conservatoire life shine through in your entry.
“Compare your thoughts and feelings from your application journey to now, being in the midst of studying your course. This will help you convey the reality of studying performing arts at a high level.
“Sharing your experiences imaginatively will give future students real insight into the opportunities on offer.”
Video entries must last no longer than one minute and essays have a 3,500 character limit. Two winners (one essay writer and one video producer) will each receive £2,500. A runner-up in each category will win £1,000. Full details, as well as terms and conditions, can be found on the UCAS website.
The competition is open now, and closes at midnight on 13 February 2015.
