Washington Green, fine art publisher to Castle Galleries and Castle Fine Art, has launched IN:SIGHT 2015; their campaign to encourage unsigned, emerging visual artists to apply to join the ranks of its big names, with the chance to exhibit at their flagship Birmingham gallery in the summer.
The prestigious art group, with a gallery in Cardiff’s St David’s Dewi Sant, boasts the likes of Ronnie Wood, Bob Dylan, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and famous art forger John Myatt in their portfolio. They now want to find the newest artistic talent from the UK with IN:SIGHT 2015 and everything is welcomed, as Founder and Creative Director, Glyn Washington, explains:
“If art is your passion, and you would like your work to reach a wider audience, we want to hear from you. This project is all about giving emerging artists a platform. IN:SIGHT 2015 is about access all areas; we want to see painters, street artists, sculptors, photographers, sketchers…no style, genre or medium is off limits. Send in your best work and inspire us with your creativity.”
The successful applicants’ work will be included in the 4 week-long ‘Summer Exhibition’ in August 2015, acting as a great springboard for people to see their portfolio. The show will be held at Castle Fine Art in Birmingham’s prestigious International Convention Centre.
For a lucky few who make the ultimate cut, there will be opportunities to tour their work nationwide throughout their estate of 35 galleries, with further potential to pursue a professional art career with Washington Green.
Last year Washington Green signed a deal with innovative sculptor, Dan Lane who works under the name Mechanica, following his submission in the 2014 search, and his work is now set to be displayed in a standalone exhibition later this year.
Dan Lane said: “I started making the sculptures a few years ago to hang on the walls of my own house and it has grown into something I could never have imagined. Castle Galleries is one of the UK’s biggest and best gallery groups – I’m so pleased to be a part of it and grateful that they have given me this chance.”
Any interested artists wanting to showcase their work to Washington Green should send an artist statement, biography and website details (if applicable) to [email protected], supported by a minimum of six images (with accompanying title, dimensions and medium) by 30 April 2015.
The Creative Team at Washington Green will choose their shortlisted selection by 8 May 2015, after which all original art from successful candidates will need to be sent to the Head Office in Birmingham by 22 May 2015. The announcement of artists selected for the popular exhibition will be announced in June.
