The Lower Machen Festival is delighted to launch the Lower Machen Festival Singers who will give their first performance in a concert of Handel’s Messiah at St Michael and All Angels’ Church, Lower Machen on Saturday 12 December at 6pm. The new vocal ensemble will be performing with The Welsh Chamber Players and will be conducted by Peter Esswood.
An exciting line up of soloists include:
Anastasiia Golovina (Soprano) from the Eastern Ukraine, currently at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, London. Beth Moxon (Contralto) born in Leeds, studying on the Opera Course at the Royal Academy of Music, London. Paul Badley (Tenor) last appeared at the LMF in 2013 and has performed as soloist with many eminent conductors including Sir Simon Rattle and Richard Hickox. Alex Jones (Bass) is currently a Lay Clerk in Gloucester Cathedral Choir and has appeared as soloist in many great choral works.
Alison Esswood, Joint Artistic Director said “We are delighted to be launching the Lower Machen Festival Singers and our first ever Christmas concert. The Festival is keen to put on events to involve the local community throughout the year as well as the main week of music making in June each year. A Christmas performance of the Messiah by candlelight will be a very special event, and with tickets starting at just £1 for children, it is something the whole family can enjoy.”
