The St. David’s Hotel & Spa is challenging the adventurers of Cardiff and beyond to take part in an exciting zip wire challenge across Cardiff Bay in aid of Welsh Charity Princes Gate Trust.
The zip wire is the latest fundraising activity instigated by the hotel as part of their Charity partnership. The event aims to build on the great success of the Hotel’s 2015 zip wire in aid of Tenovus Cancer Care, which raised a total of £33,000 in support of cancer patients and their families.
The zip wire event will take place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th of May. Starting on the roof of the hotel, the zip wire will fly participants down 190 feet into Cardiff Bay, ending at sovereign key.
Registration is £35 with a minimum sponsorship of £100 required for anyone brave enough to take on the challenge, with all proceeds going to Welsh charity Princes Gate Trust.
The Princes Gate Trust aims to enhance and enrich the lives of disadvantaged children and young people and their families, be they effected by physical challenges or by life-changing personal or familial circumstances. In the relatively short time since the inception of the Princes Gate Trust, their efforts have yielded life-changing results in a number of young people’s lives.
The Trust is known for holding challenging fundraising events, such as their ‘Daiathlon’ and ‘Daihard’ challenges. Many of the charity’s ‘heroes’ have taken part in marathons, sponsored bike rides and the Iron Man challenge so St David’s charity zip wire will be in good company.
Sam Atkinson, Chair of the Princes Gate Trust, said: “We are extremely grateful to The St David’s Hotel & Spa for selecting the Princes Gate Trust as their charity partner for this year.
“As a young charity, we really do appreciate the value of a corporate partnership such as the one we very proudly have with The St David’s Hotel and Spa. Their support will help hugely by raising funds for the various initiatives about which we are so passionate. These funds will allow us to continue and expand on the support we provide to greatly enhance the lives of youngsters who face daily, life-limiting challenges.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with The St David’s Hotel and Spa over the next year on some exciting fundraising initiatives. The zip wire in particular is one event that the Princes Gate Trust team are looking forward to partaking in ourselves also!”
Nicola Edmunds, Director of Sales and Revenue at The St David’s Hotel & Spa, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Princes Gate Trust this year. The zip wire will be just one of many fundraising activities that we will be undertaking over the coming year to raise money for this excellent cause. We encourage anyone interested in taking part in this event to sign up as soon as possible, don’t miss out.”
The zip wire weekend is a rare opportunity, and is most definitely an event not to be missed. The view from the top of the hotel as you descend the zip wire will be truly spectacular and it will be an experience to remember forever.
