As the deadline for compliance moves closer, training course provider Landlord Training Wales is providing an essential training course designed to help landlords secure the qualifications they will need to secure in order to manage their properties in Wales.
The online based training comes after last year’s announcement by the Welsh Government.
By November 23 2016, landlords and letting agents in Wales will have to register with government body Rent Smart Wales and complete a mandatory training course to obtain a licence. Failure to comply with training requirements will become a criminal offence under The Housing (Wales) Act 2014.
It is estimated that more than 100,000 individuals in Wales will need to complete registration by November. Depending on the person’s role, different training will be required. Private landlords will complete separate training, while those who work in lettings and property management will be required to fulfill the agency training.
Alex O’Brien, director of Landlord Training Wales, said that landlords need to be aware of the changes coming their way.
“The change in the law represents a huge step in making residential lettings a more credible, trusted sector. There is an implied mistrust with some landlords and agencies, in an industry plagued with misrepresentation. This course is the ideal way for landlords to showcase their property gravitas, while obtaining the necessary accreditation which lasts for five years.
“With so many landlords in Wales, we want to be able to provide the most comprehensive training and help them further their understanding of their industry. This is an ideal opportunity for landlords to carefully consider how they manage their properties while also achieving the necessary qualifications to comply with the law.”
Landlord Training Wales was the first Rent Smart Wales approved provider to offer this course both online and within a classroom. The course can be booked online at www.landlords.wales
