With the Wimbledon Championships now under way, and tennis fever in the air, Local Tennis Leagues will soon be starting around Wales to enable players of all standards to play competitive matches on local courts.
Local leagues are taking place in the following areas from July:
Flintshire: closing date for entries – 11th July, starting on 14th July;
Cardiff: closing date for entries – 4th July, starting on 7th July;
Swansea: closing date for entries – 18th July, starting on 21st July;
Wrexham: closing date for entries – 4th July, starting on 7th July.
Anyone can sign up to play at www.localtennisleagues.com
Leagues are open to anyone aged 18 and over, and offer the chance to meet other players and play in friendly competition, without the need to join a club, as matches are arranged to suit the players.
“Local Tennis Leagues offer a great opportunity for people of all abilities and ages, above 18, to get involved in friendly, competitive tennis at a venue and time to suit them, without joining a club,” said Tennis Wales chief executive, Peter Drew.
“We now have leagues established or launching at venues in North and South Wales, and we’re hoping more will follow.”
