Pen-Y-Bont Health (PYB) has launched a new website, with the aim of making professional healthcare advice more accessible to its patients.
The new website www.pybhealth.com, which will officially launch today at a conference held at The Heronston Hotel Bridgend, provides information on common illness do’s and don’ts, childhood complaints and health and well-being topics including stopping smoking and diet and exercise.
New content will be added to the site every month, including regular commentary on topics from PYB’s own General Practitioners (GPs).
PYB has developed the new initiative to provide patients with the support and information they need to improve and manage their own health, when they need it.
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the website extends PYB’s patient care beyond surgery hours. Patients can access accurate and reliable information they can trust at the click of a button.
The website also empowers patients to be better informed about health issues before they see their GP.
Dr Justine Dawkins, a GP at PYB’s Riversdale surgery commented, “Unfortunately there are only so many patients we can see in one day. The new website will extend the amount of care we are able to provide further and help patients to help themselves”.
As demand for appointments increases, using the website, PYB patients will be able to make an informed choice – do they need to see a doctor or are there small steps they can take to help themselves at home?
The new website is available to patients in all six of PYB’s surgeries – Ashfield, Newcastle, Oak Tree, New Surgery Pencoed, Pencoed Medical Centre and Riversdale.
Patients are encouraged to visit www.pybhealth.com and they can of course provide feedback on the website via staff at individual surgeries.
