Yacht Tacktic, sponsored by Associated British Ports (ABP), has successfully competed in the Rolex Fastnet Race to raise money for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
The race started at Cowes on Sunday 6th August and finished at Plymouth in the early hours of Thursday 10th August. Yacht Tacktic was at sea for a total of 4 days, 16 hours, and 39 mins. The race saw the crew sail around the Fastnet Rock, south west of Ireland, and covered a total distance of over 600 nautical miles.
Yacht Tacktic is owned and skippered by Dan Rigden, a friend and colleague of Callum Couper, ABP Port Manager for Cardiff and Barry, who is part of the Yacht Tacktic team. The Yacht has a crew of seven people who all work in the maritime sector. The team are currently on track to raise over £10,000 for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
ABP were the main sponsor of the team to help support their efforts in raising money for the Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST). JST was selected by the team as their chosen charity as it is a well established charity that provides sail training for able-bodied and disabled people on board its two tall-masted ships Lord Nelson and Tenacious.
