IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN – Swedish rockers Europe are coming to St David’s Hall in less than a month on Friday 21 September!

Since forming in 1979 Europe have sold over 25 million albums, toured worldwide and become one of the greats of modern rock music. The band’s all-conquering The Final Countdown album from 1986 sold a staggering 15 million copies, and the single of the same name was No.1 in 25 countries! At the National Concert Hall of Wales, Europe perform all their mega hits as well as tunes off their stunning new album Walk the Earth.

Tuesday 25th September – JENKINSON AND FRITH DUO
THE Autumn & Winter Lunchtime Concerts 2018/19 Season at St David’s Hall starts in style with the Jenkinson & Frith Duo on Tuesday 25 September.
Starting at 1pm, Richard Jenkinson and Benjamin Frith join forces once again to deliver breathtaking sonatas of Brahms and Kodály.
Since first performing together in 1996, the cellist and pianist have established a successful, lasting collaboration and become the backbone of the Frith Piano Quartet. The duo’s repertoire now includes everything from the great classics to contemporary works.

Tuesday 25th September – BLOWZABELLA
FOLK favourites Blowzabella celebrate their 40th anniversary in style by starting the new Roots Unearthed season at St David’s Hall on Tuesday 25 September.
After a stunning summer on the festival circuit across the UK and Europe, the London septet return to the L3 Lounge at 8pm with a critically acclaimed new album Two Score and a new book of tunes entitled More Scores.
Blowzabella create a truly inimitable sound using a mesmerising mix of bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy and acoustic instruments to create a driving, drone-based sense of melody, rhythmic expertise and sheer feeling.
Over the last four decades, Blowzabella have influenced so many artists and penned so many songs that have become standard in the modern folk repertoire – much loved and respected, there is no one else quite like them!

Thursday 27th September – AT LAST: THE ETTA JAMES STORY
THE captivating tale of a genuine soul legend comes to St David’s Hall on Thursday 27 September with At Last: The Etta James Story.
Starring the sensational Vika Bull, this stunning show relives Etta’s turbulent life and features some of her most beloved songs including Tell Mama, Something’s Got a Hold on Me, Sugar on the Floor, I’d Rather Go Blind, her iconic signature song At Last and many more. Vika is a tour-de-force onstage and is joined by some of Australia’s finest and funkiest musicians.
This smash-hit production saw its World Premiere in Melbourne in 2013, and has since packed venues throughout Australia and New Zealand including Sydney Opera House. The Etta James Story arrived on these shores last year with sold-out shows in London, Liverpool and Manchester where it received 5-star reviews and standing ovations.
During a long and tumultuous career, Etta James won a staggering six Grammy Awards and earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The R&B icon has influenced a huge array of artists including Diana Ross, Janis Joplin, Stevie Wonder, the Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart; as well as a new generation of singers like Christina Aguilera, Joss Stone, Adele and the late Amy Winehouse.
Sadly, Etta passed away in 2012 but she left an indelible mark on music and her legacy lives on today – At Last is her incredible story!
