It was tea and cake all round as tea parties took place on wards and departments across Cardiff and Vale University Health Board as staff and patients came together to celebrate the NHS Big Tea.
Hospital staff joined patients, visitors and NHS supporters to raise a cuppa and recognize the wonderful work of our health service.
Teams across a range of different specialties laid on a spread of cakes, scones, fruit and sandwiches for their guests, and dished out cups of tea to mark the occasion.
The nationwide campaign is expected to raise thousands of pounds for NHS charities like Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, which will improve and enhance hospitals and services in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan
The Heath Charity also had great support from local celebrity, Cathy Shipton (Duffy), as she rounded up her colleagues on set and hosted an NHS Big Tea Party at Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff Bay and raised the wonderful amount of £168.76.
Georgina Burke, Senior Fundraiser for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity said: “We were thrilled to see teams from across the Health Board and in the community getting behind the NHS Big Tea. The simple act of getting together and putting the kettle on was the perfect way to celebrate the wonderful work of our fantastic health service.
“The NHS Big Tea campaign will enable us to help our hospitals do even more in the future, providing equipment which is innovative and cutting edge and providing specialist care and advancements in treatments for our patients. On behalf of the whole team at Cardiff & Vale Health Charity, I’d like to say thank you to everyone who hosted a party or made a donation.”
