LighterLife partners with FareShare to help local charities fight hunger and reduce food waste
Weight management company, LighterLife is proud to help food charity FareShare. FareShare is the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, taking surplus food from the food industry and redistributing it to charities supporting vulnerable people. Thanks to LighterLife’s donation, FareShare will receive high in protein meal pots which are packed with vitamins and minerals – providing 50% of people’s daily nutritional requirements in one handy pot. This will help create nearly 7,500 meals for vulnerable people across the UK.
Rebecca Hunter, LighterLife founding director, said: “LighterLife is proud to support FareShare in their work as we echo the ethos that food that would otherwise go to waste should be passed to those in need, be it refuges, community cafes or homeless shelters, to name a few. Good food should never go to waste so we are delighted we can pass this surplus quantity of stock of nutritionally balanced meals to FareShare who will distribute throughout the UK to many good causes, people in need, and of course avoiding adding unnecessarily to landfill.”
FareShare Commercial Director, Alyson Walsh, added: “Through our 22 regional centres, FareShare gets good quality surplus food to charities in hundreds of towns and cities – from Aberdeen to Brighton – reaching almost 11,000 charities across the UK. These charities, in turn, create healthy, nutritious meals for those in need. We’re grateful to companies like LighterLife who share our passion for fighting food waste and making sure good food ends up on the plates of those who need it.”
