MOLTON BROWN’S C-19 RELIEF EFFORT REACHES WALES

08/04/2020

Molton Brown believes that as a community, we must do our best to contain and delay the spread of COVID-19; and as a brand, the health and wellbeing of its customers and teams is an absolute priority. As such, it has worked swiftly and decisively to introduce several ways to help people during this time of crisis.

A key part of the relief effort has involved sending much-needed bottles of hand lotion to NHS staff across the UK – including those at University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, and the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport. In this way the brand is helping the UK’s frontline heroes to take care of their hands, which are reportedly becoming very dry due to repeated washing and frequent application of alcohol-based hand sanitisers. To date, a total of 3,000 bottles has been distributed across hospitals across both England and Wales.

The brand’s first action was to offer a complimentary trio of its Ultra Pure Milk Soaps to customers both online and in its retail stores (pre-lockdown closure) to help flatten the COVID-19 curve. After announcing this initiative to their online database offer on Friday 20th March 2020, they received an overwhelming response, with 95,000 soaps given away to share with family and friends.

The brand has also donated 25,000 Ultra Pure Milk Soaps to Beauty Banks, a ‘beauty with purpose’ movement that organises donations of personal care and hygiene products to registered charities throughout Britain. They in turn dispense them to people who desperately need them.

Finally, to help look after the most vulnerable in our society, Molton Brown has joined forces with fellow fragrance brand, Miller Harris, to support Britain’s leading charity for older people, Age UK. The brand donated a further 3,000 soaps to those aged over 70 who may not have others to support them in this challenging time.

Mark Johnson, President of Molton Brown, comments: “Since 1971, the brand has had at its very heart a duty of care – to its customers, its employees and beyond that, to the community at large. We’ve weathered turbulent times before, and it’s through looking after each other and putting people first that we will get through this critical situation. We remain fully committed to the safety and wellbeing of all, and we will continue to seek out other ways of helping those in need and those who are very vulnerable during this difficult time.”

In the face of this global pandemic, Molton Brown is determined to do its part and nurture our community as much as it can. Overcoming the trialling weeks and months ahead will need a united effort across all brands – together we are stronger in seeing each other through safely.
