£10,000 FOR LOCAL HOMELESSNESS CHARITY FROM MORRISONS FOUNDATION

26/05/2020

The Morrisons Foundation was delighted to support Huggard with a grant of £10,000.

The much-needed funds will go towards providing meals and support for 200 homeless people a day through the charity’s centre and for those who are rough-sleeping in Cardiff.

Richard Edwards, Huggard CEO said, “We would like to say a big thank-you to the Morrisons Foundation for it’s grant. As Wales’ leading centre for people who are rough sleeping, and homeless in Cardiff, we know the importance of being able to offer someone a warm meal and a hot drink in a safe place, away from the streets.”

“The funding will be spent on our catering operation in our Intervention Centre and will also give our staff the opportunity to offer specialist advice on everything from getting emergency accommodation to sorting out financial concerns and in tackling substance misuse. It means that we can be ‘Right Here, Right Now’ for the people who need our help in leaving the streets for good.”

David Scott, Morrisons Foundation Trustee said, “Morrisons is committed to helping the most vulnerable in our society. We know that the coronavirus outbreak presents a particular risk to homeless people and I’m delighted that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help fund Huggards’ vital work.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.  Since launching over £29 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
