SCHOOL and college leavers in Cardiff are being offered the chance to attend a free event where they can meet potential employers and education providers face-to-face next week for the first time since the pandemic ended.
Hosted by pioneering job events company, NAS Media Limited, The National School + College Leaver Show takes place at the International Convention Centre which is less than 15 miles away in Newport on March 6.
The unemployment rate of Wales was 3.5 per cent in the three months to December 2022, compared with 3.1 percent in the same period of 2021.
This event is being highlighted as one that can give students who are preparing to leave school or college – as well as young adults – the opportunity to meet a diverse range of general employers. The BBC, the British Army and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service are among those exhibiting at the event as well as Greene King, Premier Inn and the Sinclair Group – all of whom are looking to recruit new staff on full or part time roles or apprenticeships.
The National School + College Leaver Show is also aimed at school and college leavers who are considering further and higher education with the likes of the University of South Wales, Cardiff University, and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David all in attendance. Overall, more than 40 exhibitors are signed up for the event.
Simon Bennie, event organiser at The National School + College Leaver Show, said: “The show is designed to provide students in Year 11, 12 and 13 the chance to meet a variety of employers and further and higher education providers face-to-face in a friendly, comfortable, and interactive environment.
“The event is a ‘one-stop shop’ for anyone who wants to find out what is available to them post-secondary or further education. It is the perfect chance for parents and carers as well to discover more about what opportunities are out there for their sons and daughters across Wales.
“This event is also open to young adults so anyone can come and have a chat with exhibitors about their future. Maybe that person has been out of work for a while, or they need to fit work around childcare or caring responsibilities. Maybe someone is simply looking for a career change but whatever their circumstances, it is worth visiting The National School + College Leaver Show to see if we can help.”
Teachers can make group bookings for students and individuals can register for the event here.
