With the fashion world buzzing about the vogue at New York Fashion week, we take a look at Bumble and Bumbles First looks and how they are keeping hair on trend for Fall/Winter 2015.

DESIGNER DIRECTION/HAIR INSPIRATION:
Vera Wang’s collection featured elegant, oversized silhouettes while the hair was styled to look like the girl had just done it herself after missing a few shampoos a natural “greasiness2). Two knots were secured at the middle of the head, with carefully placed fringe at the front.
STYLING METHODS:
Start hair off with a messy, wavy look by taking a curling iron to the hair (though some of the models already had this natural texture and didn’t need this step). Pull the hair into a ponytail positioned in the middle of the head. Take Sumotech and slick the sides for a greasy look. Spray Thickening Hairspray on the length of the ponytail before wrapping into two buns, securing with hair pins as needed. Pull out two pieces of the hair to stick out (nearly) horizontally so that they are visible from the front. Baby hairs by the hairline were styled to look like windblown fringe. Finish with Does It All.

DESIGNER DIRECTION/ HAIR INSPIRATION:
CG fashions hair had an army of bangs paying homage to Marianne Faithful; hair was airy (with a slight wave) that contrasted with a thick, full fringe.
STYLING METHODS:
Cocktail Thickening Hairspray and Grooming Crème and blow dry into the hair, section by section. For girls with split ends, follow with Repair Blow Dry and blow dry from mid-shaft to ends. Take a 1 ¼ ‘’ curling iron and place waves spontaneously through the hair. Create a centre part behind the bang and finish with Thickening Dryspun Finish and Classic Hairspray. For girls without bangs, extensions were cut and secured in place.

DESIGNER DIRECTION/HAIR INSPIRATION:
The ‘Creatures of the Wind’ collection this season featured a lot of textures and patterns, with a touch of glamour. To balance (and avoid an overall look that was ‘‘too pretty’’) the hair had attitude for a style that was downtown and cool.
STYLING METHODS:
Mist hair with Thickening Hairspray and quickly blow dry, parting hair in the centre. Push hairline forward, creating a curtain effect- a nod to the ‘70s. Once dry, brush through to create wispy strands. Saturate with a generous amount of Surf Spray, and use hands to scrunch hair in sections spontaneously. Rake through the fingers haphazardly and finish with Classic Hairspray.

DESIGNER DIRECTION/HAIR INSPIRATION:
Jonathan Simkhai’s Hair was inspired by the pattern of tyre tracks, the collection was filled with interesting prints on alluring silhouettes. Interpreting this motif, hair was slicked back to mimic “helmet hair” resulting in a rough (but sexy) style.
STYLING METHODS:
Blow dry Thickening Hairspray into the hair and using the Bb.Flat Brush, direct roots towards the back, section by section. Heat Sumowax with a blow dryer and apply at the roots, directing towards the rear. Blow dry product into hair and run fingers through to achieve a spontaneous feeling. Finish with Thickening Dryspun Finish to add a contrasting texture from mid-shaft to ends.

DESIGNER DIRECTION/HAIR INSPIRATION:
Todd Snyder went for a back-to-basics, well-groomed man. Individual hairstyles were kept refined, natural and unforced.
STYLING METHODS:
Saturate hair with Thickening Hairspray and Surf Spray and blow dry hair roughly, directing hair towards the back (for a forward style, blow dry towards the front). Apply Grooming Crème to thick hair and run fingers through, following the direction. For fine hair types, use Thickening Crème Contour. Finish with Does It All Hairspray.

DESIGNER DIRECTION/HAIR INSPIRATION:
Protagonist collection was inspired by the work of artist Joseph Hart whose paintings feature a process that’s interrupted and reworked, the clothing followed a similar idea. To complement and not compete, hair was meant to be nonchalant, easy and believable.
STYLING METHODS:
Create a natural part and saturate hair from mid-shaft to ends with Prep. After rough drying, apply Pret-a-powder at roots, section by section, and work it in with another rough blow dry with hands. Pin loose twists on either side of the face back. Once set, unpin to create a sublte, natural wave. Finish with Thickening Dryspun Finish for extra texture.
*There was an emphasis on quality control for the models’ hair- all girls were to have consistency in density and hair texture. Those with too much hair had some strands braided out in the back while those with not enough had hair pieces added at the nape of the neck.
