A Cardiff school’s playground has been transformed thanks to a grant from Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative. Coryton Primary School received £4,000 from the supermarket’s flagship community grant scheme – which is funded by sales of carrier bags. The money has been used to install a shelter in the playground which protects children from the elements during their playtimes. Dogs Trust has officially unveiled plans for its brand-new Cardiff Rehoming Centre which is set to open in 2021 to help save 1,000 dogs a year. A South Wales charity which offers care and support to children with cancer has benefitted from a donation from a local housebuilder. Kids Cancer Charity, which is based in Swansea and has a fundraising office in Cardiff, received a cheque of £550 from Bellway Wales, which is building new homes at St Lythans Park, in Culverhouse Cross. Cardiff & Vale Health Charity’s Staff Lottery has recently funded a cinema room on Meadow Ward, Llanfair Unit at University Hospital Llandough for patients suffering from mental health conditions, helping them feel more relaxed and at home while they are in hospital.
