In 2018 Rhiwbina RFC and Cancer Research Wales undertook a joint annual raffle, which was drawn at Rhiwbina Recreation Club just before Christmas. It was the culmination of months of ticket selling by all sections of Rhiwbina RFC and by Cancer Research Wales, with all prizes kindly donated by local North Cardiff businesses. The Barry Hospital will soon be celebrating its 25th Anniversary. The hospital was opened in 1995 as a ‘community hospital’ with a range of facilities for staff, visitors, third sector and community groups to use. The hospital has its origins from an accident ward established by the local Nursing Association in a property in Kingsland Crescent in March 1895. Libraries across South Wales are working with the charity Goldies Cymru to brighten the lives of older people through regular daytime boisterous FUN singalong sessions. Goldies Cymru started in Cardiff six years ago with just six daytime fun Sing&Smile sessions. Pupils from Radnor Primary School were joined on Friday 25 January by the Older People’s Commissioner Heléna Herklots and Children’s Commissioner Sally Holland as they visited local care home Pontcanna House.
