BLUE Chapter, Market Road, Canton, Cardiff, Wales, CF5 1QE Tuesday 5th – Saturday 16th February 2019 And every so often I find something. Washed up on the shore. Something lost. Something old. Something broken. Something in need of repair. And I’d bring it back here. I’d bring it home. This February, Chippy Lane Productions present the world premiere of BLUE – the debut play of young Welsh writer Rhys Warrington. BLUE shines a light on the current state of vulnerable…

This sensational Italian restaurant set in the St David’s 2 food quarter really blew us away! Carl and I were invited down to try “The best pizza and pasta in town”. With so many Italian restaurants in Cardiff, I was of course sceptical but eager to indulge and make my own conclusions. We arrived and were promptly greeted by the front of house with a warming smile and engaging attitude, I felt like we had walked into a friends home…

Cardiff’s latest cocktail bar offering is the intriguing Deaths & Entrances,  set in the same building as Cardiff’s iconic ‘The Dead Canary’ on Barrack Lane.  It has the same secretive concept as its sister bar ‘TDC’ and really offers something quite unique.  You first ring the door bell , eagerly await an answer, then enter through the secret back door entrance and receive a welcoming greeting.  It adds some real excitement to the traditional bar visiting experience.  It’s main focus…

Bespoke cocktail bar Dirty Martini invited us down to try their new vegan cocktail range and we were thoroughly impressed. The vegan trend has quadrupled in the last five years, so it’s really refreshing to see the hospitality industry incorporating this into their offerings. Dirty Martini Cardiff will be celebrating their third birthday this year and has been an incredible addition to Cardiff’s social sector. Their slogan “spirited sophistication” really seems quite fitting with their fine cocktails and lavish surroundings….

This was originally Truffles Cafe but has had an inspiring change of style. The building has kept its iconic tainted windows and has a new Mediterranean feel to it. From its continental inspired handmade dining tables which are hand crafted with Spanish tiles, to its beautiful yet elementary white tiled bar. The…

Now showing at the Wales Millennium Centre (16-26 January 2019) is the famous and much lauded (having won numerous awards) show that is Jersey Boys. The show is the life story of how The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli came to be. The story is told about how they were formed, the issues they had trying to make a career in the music industry, and the hardships they faced. There were plenty of money worries such as the non-paying of…

My most recent discovery took me to Chapel 1877 Bar and Restaurant, which is located on Churchill Way, Cardiff.  It is a grade II listed building which maintains all its original gothic charm. The converted chapel is tastefully decorated whilst maintaining many original features. The building has an overwhelming feeling of grandeur due to its high ceilings and opulent furnishings. I was invited down to review their gold gin experience. I was very keen to indulge myself in this experience…

My latest discovery brought me to the beautiful village of Llandaff, Cardiff. Known for its iconic cathedral, it truly is a picturesque location, just north of Cardiff. Seren Diemwnt is set on High St, which is a prime spot in Llandaff. The head chef and owner Gethin Rees has worked in hospitality since he was 17 and has a unique flare for creating hearty inspiring dishes. The restaurant name translates to diamond star in English which has a very personal…
