Wales’ largest sight loss charity is making a plea for volunteers in Wales. The charity is looking for volunteers to support local blind and partially sighted people to be digitally connected and enjoy the benefits of being online. This includes devices such as tablets, e-readers and smart phones. Helping people to get online can open up a whole new world and increase independence. Paul Jenkins – coach of the Invictus Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby team and South Wales Pirates – has been rewarded for his career as a Wheelchair Rugby Coach. A former Welsh Guards Instructor, Jenkins had a motorbike crash after he left the military, leaving him tetraplegic. A creative pupil from Cardiff has been crowned the winner of a national competition, after designing a striking poster warning of the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning. Naomi Rahman, who is 11 years old created her poster to demonstrate the silent and deadly effects of carbon monoxide – an odourless, colourless gas which kills around 36 people each year and injures more than 250 people.
