Staff and residents at Danybryn care home in Radyr, Cardiff, have completed a sponsored wheelchair walk to raise money for MS UK.
MS UK is a national charity close to the hearts of Danybryn care home, as one of its residents’ lives with multiple sclerosis.
Resident, Zillah Damon, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 20 and decided to embark on the five-kilometer journey alongside their support workers and fellow residents to raise awareness of the disease.
The wheelchair walk, which will help raise vital funds for MS UK, saw the intrepid team take on the inclement weather, starting at Café Castan in Llandaff Fields and ending at Danybryn Summerhouse and has already raised funds over £280.
Danybryn is a 31-bedded home for adults with physical disabilities and was acquired by employee-owned care provider, Shaw healthcare earlier this month. The home is passionate about empowering people to lead full and happy lives and is proud of what the residents achieve.
Anita Upham, service manager at the home says: “We are so proud of our residents and employees for completing the challenge and are delighted to be raising money for such an important charity as MS UK.
“Thank you to all of the people who have donated to our fundraiser so far and joined us for the walk.”
The online donation page is still open should anyone like to donate to Zillah and her intrepid team’s challenge: https://www.justgiving.com/page/danybryn-1723712521262?newPage=true
