Coles Funeral Directors marked its expansion with the launch of its second premises at Heathwood Rd this week, creating 10 jobs for local people in the process.
As the official launch was marked by a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Rhian Mannings, founder of 2 Wish Upon a Star, over 70 guests attended to welcome the family-run business to its new home in North Cardiff.
The new site promises to be more than just a traditional funeral home and in the future will provide a counselling centre on site for those who require additional support following the loss of a loved one. These plans will allow Coles Funeral Directors to offer care, respect and understanding throughout the bereavement process.
Gareth Coles, managing director of Coles Funeral Directors, said: “We’re thrilled to be able to mark the last quarter of 2018 with the launch of our second premises in such a fantastic manner, with a toast to the community and special thank you to all who have supported us thus far. We saw an incredible turnout to our launch event and we hope that this will be a symbol of success for our new premises, allowing us to better serve the wider Cardiff community as we look towards the future.”
Speaking of the launch, Rhian Mannings founder of 2 Wish Upon a Star said: “I’m thrilled to have been invited to mark the opening of the Coles Funeral Directors new premises. I initially met Gareth and Francesca several years ago when I was looking to raise awareness of funeral directors for 2 Wish Upon a Star as when I lost my husband and son in quick succession, the only support I received was from my funeral directors. So, from personal experience I believe this relationship is incredibly important as they can have a crucial impact on a family at the time of loss, and especially afterwards.
“Gareth and Francesca have created a homely and non-intimidating environment here and I’m confident that families who utilise their support will be put at ease not just by its surroundings, but also by the staff who bring a personal approach to each individual situation. As an organisation that works with suddenly bereaved parents, Coles is a business that we would certainly recommend and everyone at 2 Wish Upon a Star wishes Coles the best of luck for the future.”
The award-winning funeral directors was initially established in 2006 and currently employs over 20 members of staff. It is one of the last remaining independent funeral providers in Cardiff and the only funeral business in Wales to be accredited and recommended by the Good Funeral Guide described as ‘a breath of fresh air in a relatively ‘fusty old industry. With a base on Newport Road and now Heathwood Rd additionally, Coles is widening its reach across Cardiff ahead of 2019.
Gareth continued: “We were looking for locations that would help us best serve our customers with both funeral and supporting services across Cardiff for the upcoming year and beyond. Our new site on Heathwood Rd seemed is in a great location in the heart of the Birchgrove community, allowing us to expand whilst giving us the opportunity to open up careers in the death industry.
“We are one of the last remaining independent funeral providers in Cardiff. And our independence gives us the flexibility to provide a bespoke service to every single one of the families that we work with at some of darkest periods of their lives, bringing the personalised approach that they all deserve. Thanks to our exacting standards, we ensure that every funeral we provide offers the best reflection of the deceased and respects their every wish, and that for us is incredibly rewarding.”
Delivering traditional religious ceremonies, woodland and eco funerals, and all types of humanist, celebration of life, and direct transfer services – Coles is dedicated to serving Cardiff’s diverse community and ensuring each and every funeral is the perfect reflection of the life of the deceased.
