The RSPCA’s Bryn-y-Maen Branch is inviting pet-owners to get involved with a Home Pet Show this Howl-o-ween to raise money for animals in need.
Families and their pets are being encouraged to take part to make up for the absence of Trick or Treating this year.
All animals are welcome in the five online classes, including Wise Wizards, Pumpkin-Spiced Baby, Tricks and Treats and Howloween Pets. There is also an art class for budding photographers, crafters and artists.
People can enter their pets into one of the 20 regional heats across the country until the close of Friday 30 October. National winners will be picked from across the regions and will be invited to take part in the live final hosted by CBBC’s Pets Factor vet Rory Cowlam and actor and influencer Sophie Craig at 4pm on Saturday 31st October streamed on the charity’s Facebook page.
Chris Butler, from RSPCA Bryn-y-Maen, said: “We know that many people will be disappointed that Trick or Treating can’t take place this year due to Covid-19 restrictions – so we thought it would be fun to organise a day of spooky fun that people could enjoy at home, while still involving the four-legged family members too!
“The Home Pet Show is set to be a lot of fun and we really can’t wait to see everyone’s pets this Howloween. There is a class for all types and age of animals – and arty animal lovers can enter the art class too.
“All the action will be taking place online so people and their pets can take part no matter where they are. We hope that people will help us to raise much-needed funds for all of the bats, cats, rats, mice and other animals in our care by entering or watching our Home Pet Show.
“Entry is just £4 and all the money raised will go towards looking after animals in our care this autumn.
“We can only do all our work with animals in need thanks to the generous support of the public so by logging online and enjoying yourself you will be helping us continue to be there for animals, especially during these tough times.”
Families and their pets are being encouraged to enter the Home Pet Show classes which are:
🎃 Tricks and Treats – an all- animal class where owners are being encouraged to show off their pet’s hidden talents and special skills!
🎃 Howl-o-ween Pets – From Witches’ Cats to Hounds of the Baskervilles (Dogs), Horses (of the Apocalypse) to all things rodent, creepy, crawly or scaly, we can’t wait to meet your pets this Halloween.
🎃 Wise Wizards – This class is tailor made for all animals in their autumn years!
🎃 Pumpkin-spiced baby – We can’t wait to see your cute younger creatures and critters in our all-animal baby class.
🎃 Spooky Art Class – Send us pictures of your all-animal creations including 2D, 3D and photography. We’d love to see pet and wildlife entries and will award ages under 11s, 11 to 16 and 16 and over.
The pet show is not being judged on looks but is all about celebrating pets’ happiness, health, behaviour and the amazing bond we have with them and there is a class for any pet.
In addition to the live Home Pet Show final, there will be an afternoon of animal-themed family friendly virtual fun to celebrate RSPCA and our lockdown animal friends – including a spooky animal quiz with influencer Jess Megan, Howloween Bake-along with last year’s Great British Bake Off winner David Atherton and pumpkin carving with influencers Shy Toys. All the action will be broadcast on the RSPCA Facebook page from 2pm on Saturday October 31st.
