St David’s Hall
Friday 5 May, Doors 7pm
IRELAND’S reigning rock queen Imelda May returns to St David’s Hall with her first UK tour in three years on Friday 5 May 2017 – and tickets went on sale Friday 9th December at 9.30am, don’t miss out!
Imelda’s much-anticipated fifth album Life Love Flesh Blood is due for release in March 2017, and the tour promises to be show the inimitable artist as you’ve never seen her before. A new groove has been unearthed in the studio melding blues, soul, gospel, folk, rock and acoustic with a cinematic vibe.
Plus, these songs (including her new single Call Me) contain the most personal and autobiographical lyrics that Imelda has ever written.
Featuring guest appearances on the album including long-time admirers Jeff Beck and Jools Holland, Imelda believes it’s her finest work yet.
She said: “I always loved the Fifties rockabilly style, but there was a point where I felt I was almost dressing up as Imelda May. It was as if I was getting into character for a gig. And I didn’t want to do that anymore. This is me. I’m so proud of this album and can’t wait to bring it out on the road to you.”
“In May’s hands, rockabilly is a feral form, vitally alive and compelling”
