Legend is a word thrown around too easily today when describing pop stars but the legend that is Lionel Richie has more than earned the title and when he brought his show to Swansea Liberty Stadium on June 18th 27,000 fans got to witness The Legend at his very best. When I say very best that’s what you got, all the hits in one show, the night kicked off with Running with the Night and the Swansea crowd was mad for Mr Richie. Massive iconic moments included Hello and We Are The World, 27,000 fans singing and dancing to these huge hits made for special moments during the two hour show.
There was humour too, Richie found it funny performing in front of a life size cut out of himself, which a fan had attached to the front of the stage. Lots of references made to Swansea throughout the show made a great connection between Richie and the strong Swansea crowd.
Some of the biggest tours have stopped off in South Wales this summer with huge attendances reported at all venues but the highlight has to be the visit we got from Lionel Richie. There will always be a welcome back in Wales for Mr Richie.
