Former St Peter’s RFC players Callum Sheedy and Ioan Lloyd have got behind their old club and lent their support to kickstart the club’s fundraising drive to raise money for a new roof.
Wales superstars Sheedy and Lloyd are being joined by Josh Navidi and BBC sports broadcaster Jason Mohammad, who is compering the event, for an online evening of fun and rugby banter as the Club – known as the Rocks – launches its crowdfunder to raise money to carry out much needed repairs to the leaking clubhouse roof.
Tickets to this evenings free event at 7pm, via zoom, are limited and are being issued on a first come, first served basis. The Wales rugby stars will take questions from the floor, including past and present players of all ages, parents, sponsors and anyone else who wants to hear what it’s like to play on the field for your country.
Callum Sheedy said:
“I am really excited to be virtually heading back to the club that I spent so many years playing rugby for and it will be great to take questions from the next generation of rugby players.
“I know how passionate The Rocks community is and I am hoping that together we can raise the money to fix the leaking roof.”
St Peter’s RFC Assistant Chairman, Vince Nolan, said:
“We are thrilled that Callum, Ioan and Josh have got behind our campaign and are excited to host this free event.
“We are proud that Ioan and Callum played much of their formative rugby at The Rocks and it’s great that they continue to lend their support.
“The event is a fantastic opportunity for our community to hear from the Wales players about what it’s like to don their boots and walk out onto the pitch for their country. It also gives us the opportunity to raise some much-needed money to replace a large part of our roof structure. “
St Peter’s RFC have been playing rugby in Cardiff East since 1886. The first XV are established in Division One East Central and the Second XV host teams across south Wales in the Conference East.
