Sugarhill Brighton are thrilled to announce their partnership with the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust as part of their ongoing #WearAndCare initiative. The independent brand are taking their original, hand-drawn designs beyond the seaside and using them to raise awareness and money to support Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust’s high impact programmes across the UK. The partnership launches with 3 new unique designs, each donating £5 per sale of each allocated style to the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust.
Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust runs high impact programmes inspiring and supporting young people to enter and succeed in the career of their choice and working with community groups and others to address disparity of opportunity so everyone’s talents, skills and perspectives are valued.
Working with young people from disadvantaged and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, the Trust’s Pathways to Professions programme provides the knowledge, skills and opportunities young people need to build their career aspirations. In the last year, the programme has provided face-to-face career guidance, industry talks and work experience for nearly 400 young people aged 13 to 18 and has reached over 1,200 digitally.
This year it has also provided bursaries to students at 13 different universities who would otherwise struggle to stay in education, and there are currently 145 young people on its Building Futures programme, which provides mentoring, workshops, bursaries and other support to enable young people from disadvantaged and under-represented backgrounds to study and qualify as architects – the career Stephen Lawrence himself planned to enter.
Through its work with community groups, the Trust also supports over 100 small organisations who are having a real impact in their communities and it works with government, businesses and innovative organisations to create a fairer society in which everyone, regardless of their background, has the opportunity and support to succeed.
Money raised from the #WearAndCare partnership will be donated to support Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust’s work creating a fairer and more inclusive society.
Through the #WearAndCare initiative, Sugarhill Brighton collate funds for charity via the sale of certain garments. For each WearAndCare item sold, £5 goes directly to one of their chosen charities. The 2020 charities are; Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust, Rainforest Trust, Plan International UK, Whoopsadaisy, Rainbow Trust, The Clock Tower Sanctuary, and Give Directly. Since launch in 2017, the independent British brand has raised over £60k under the #WearAndCare scheme.
