THE International Concert Series continues at St David’s Hall with the sensational Symphony Orchestra of India on Thursday 21 February.
Led by masterful Conductor Martyn Brabbins, a solo horn ushers in the enchanted soundscape of Shakespeare’s Oberon Overture, who Carl Maria von Weber vividly brought to life in his final opera. Its effortless melodic invention is mirrored in Saint-Saëns’ stunning Third Violin Concerto featuring virtuoso soloist Marat Bisengaliev. It remains one of the finest Romantic French violin concertos of the 19th century and is packed with unforgettable tunes.
Romance is also the key to Rimsky-Korsakov’s evocation of Arabian Nights and its Scheherazade, which brings the concert to a fantastic finale with its awe-inspiring cinematic intensity.
