Hair the Musical is now in it’s 50th Anniversary as the tour stops at New Theatre, Cardiff for five days. The show is a high energy dance filled delight.  Set in 1967, it follows the lives of a group of teenagers in an East village in New York.   The show is known for pushing against the boundaries of authority and society in 1967 and the modern offering does not disappoint.  The show tackles the issue of being drafted into the…

I had the pleasure of being invited to the Millennium Centre to see The National Theatre Performance of Macbeth on Tuesday 19th March. Directed by Rufus Norris, with the main parts Macbeth and Lady Macbeth played by Rory McKinnear and Anne-Marie Duff – it definitely wasn’t for the faint hearted. Depicted as a chilling, cautionary tale about how power corrupts all – this production was unlike any interpretation I had seen before. As it is such a well-known play, the…

I visited Etc in Penarth to experience their Motown supper club and it was truly superb. I was really impressed with the opulent ‘GATSBY’ decor, which really heightened the elegant ambiance. The fusion inspired restaurant and cocktail bar was really inviting and had plenty of staff to cater for your every need. I felt really comfortable and relaxed, it was almost like I was in my own home having a dinner party. The space is intimate and charming, with beautiful…

Set on Cowbridge road east is the fetching Purple Poppadom Indian restaurant. The restaurant had a lovely airy feel to it and the decor was very contemporary. Upon arrival, we were greeted straight away and quickly shown to our seats and offered drinks. Carl Marsh and I  asked the waiter for his recommendations. He was knowledgeable and explained the different curry offerings and spice intensity. We opted for a traditional ‘SHEEKH KEBAB’ and ‘PRAWN PORICHATHU’ to start. The sheekh…

Wow!! Derren Litten’s iconic tv series ‘Benidorm’ has a new home, the classic theatre stage! Opening the show at Newcastle theatre royal in 2018, it’s had rave reviews and we were extremely excited to see it here at Cardiff times. It had that recognisable British humour that we all know and love and it was incredible to see the original TV show cast members involved. From the fabulously camp Kenneth (Tony Maudsley) to the swinging larger than life character Jaqueline…

This sensational Italian restaurant set in the St David’s 2 food quarter really blew us away! Carl and I were invited down to try “The best pizza and pasta in town”. With so many Italian restaurants in Cardiff, I was of course sceptical but eager to indulge and make my own conclusions. We arrived and were promptly greeted by the front of house with a warming smile and engaging attitude, I felt like we had walked into a friends home…

Cardiff’s latest cocktail bar offering is the intriguing Deaths & Entrances,  set in the same building as Cardiff’s iconic ‘The Dead Canary’ on Barrack Lane.  It has the same secretive concept as its sister bar ‘TDC’ and really offers something quite unique.  You first ring the door bell , eagerly await an answer, then enter through the secret back door entrance and receive a welcoming greeting.  It adds some real excitement to the traditional bar visiting experience.  It’s main focus…
