Our reporter Emma Louise Smart had the joy of seeing Robert Plant play at the Wales Millennium Centre. Growing up, my mother was obsessed with Led Zepplin. Robert Plant was her first love, and as first loves have a habit of lasting a lifetime (musically, anyway), she still plays their records round the house on hard rotation. This meant that growing up, I was pretty obsessed with Led Zeppelin too, and it was with an entirely childish smugness that I…

Cardiff University’s drama society, Act One, have outdone themselves once again. Normally I would attempt to keep readers on their toes and reveal my verdict at the end of a review, but having been inspired by the topic of the show itself, I feel there’s no need to have a ‘little voice’ about it. This is a show to shout about! The Rise and Fall of Little Voice by Jim Cartwright, performed at the YMCA Theatre last weekend to raise…

My children love and breath Harry Potter, so as a treat we took them to the Warner Brother Studios to do the Harry Potter Tour. We wanted to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city, so stayed just on the outskirts at the Ibis Hotel London Elstree Borehamwood.  It was so easy to get to from Cardiff and we could park right outside. The hotel is opposite the Big Brother House, so if you are a big fan, this…

We recently visited Strada and were greeted by friendly staff who kindly asked where we would prefer to sit.  We chose to sit inside, being as it looked a little cosier. Once seated, we were given menus and…

With the January detox now a distant memory, kick start your carb habit and indulge on a custom made burger at Cardiff’s hottest new burger bar, Time and Beef. The 3rd March, you may recall, was dark, Arctic-like night, where if a snowstorm had engulfed Cardiff, no one would have batted an eyelid. Like a mirage, a glowing sanctuary on the streets of Canton, Time and Beef called upon the hungry, cold and fine-burger deprived for the launch of the…

Its true what they say, ‘it’s not all about winning’….however, it certainly does give you a boost (!) especially when the prize is as baa-rilliant as this one! I was lucky enough to win the new ‘Shaun the Sheep movie’ through Cardiff Times Facebook competitions! And it’s safe to say, it caused quite a few excited bleetings in our household! As did the accompanying ‘bag’ (which despite being nearly 30 myself, i did consider trying on, but decided better of…

This bank holiday Monday, I made the most of my three-day weekend by going to see the at the Motorpoint Arena. As a big Doctor Who fan and music fanatic, I was incredibly excited. The show had come all the way from Australia as part of their first-ever world tour: they will visit six UK cities before landing in the Big Apple in October.  After their UK premier in London, the show had arrived at the home of the…
